News and What Nots

Well if you have ever been to my website in the past, you know all too well that this has been a long time in the making!!!

Anyway, I am slowly getting more content on this website as the days go by. So I hope you are patient and don't discount me forever..check back again soon for more tidbits.

Let's see, what have I been up to in 2008? Well I started off the year with a two-person show at 21Grand in Oakland. For that show I did a large 5ft. tall by 20ft long drawing about the epic journey of Bas Jan Ader, a conceptual artist who disappeared in the Atlantic Ocean in the early 1970's. He was attempting a journey on a tiny 12ft. "yacht", he launched off the coast of Cape Cod and was never seen again. My drawing imagines his "Odyssey". An image of the drawing will be uploaded by the end of the year (I promise).

In July I was in a great two-person show with Jason Byers at a super gallery in New Jersey called Fleetwing. Our show was called "How Soon is Now", you can see images by clicking on the drawings page on this website and then clicking the link.

The body of work I produced for that show was based on an imaged society. The people worship and prepare for the "end of days", as the elders have taught and passed down the rituals and preparations needed when the giant wave comes. For this series I was pulling from many influences, catholic ritual, ancient pagan idolatry and society, blind belief, music of the Decemberists, Arcade Fire, Beruit and others...

This was a very exciting show for me, I produced a large body of work and a limited edition set of prints..and as a super bonus I just about sold the entire show out!!!

Also in July the great band Lady Genius used two of my drawings, one for their debut album insert (a yummy 10" record with red vinyl). The band used another drawing for their Mission Creek Music festival poster.

In September David Cunningham Projects (a great gallery in San Francisco), included me in his big advertisement in Art in America and will be showing some of the pieces in a group event this November that I have on file from a group show I was in last November 2007 called "Animal Rites". Kind of exciting.

That is all I have to report for now.

Thanks for visiting my website and please feel free to email me with website suggestions or comments on my artwork...
